The Polish PNT Shield Program – Strengthening Cybersecurity

Another collaboration with the National Office of Geodesy and Cartography! Under an agreement with the Chief Surveyor of Poland, we are preparing documentation for the “Polish PNT Shield Program – Module 1” project, planned as part of the European Funds for Digital Development 2021–2027 program, measure FERC.4.1 “Strengthening cybersecurity and developing resilient data processing infrastructure.” The project involves the development of services and systems designed to monitor, detect, and mitigate the effects of disruptions in the area of PNT services based, among other things, on GNSS systems.

A nation’s digital resilience depends not only on the security of its IT systems, but also on the stability of services that remain invisible to users on a day-to-day basis. These areas include PNT services—positioning, navigation, and timing—which are used in fields such as public administration, surveying, transportation, telecommunications, energy, and security systems

Our task is to prepare a Feasibility Study and other deliverables necessary for the application submission. Our work includes gathering and organizing project information, conducting the analyses required for FERC projects, and preparing supporting documentation for the application process. The collaboration also includes workshops with the Contracting Authority, consultations, and updates to the documentation during the strategic, formal, and substantive evaluation of the application.

In this project, it is particularly important to integrate the requirements of the FERC program, the specific nature of critical infrastructure, cybersecurity issues, and the complex architecture of public services. Preparing the documentation for such a project requires not only a thorough understanding of the rules for applying for European funding, but also the ability to translate an advanced technological concept into a coherent project scope that can be evaluated and implemented.
