Upgraded ticketing system
Another project related to the ticketing system is ahead of us! This time we return to Poznan and, in cooperation with ZTM, update the assumptions for the modernization and development of the PEKA System.
The Public Transport Authority of Poznań (ZTM) is planning to expand and modernize the PEKA system, which has been in use since 2012, by launching the EMV contactless payment system in ticket punchers, thanks to which we will also pay for bus and streetcar rides in the Poznań agglomeration with a payment card, without the need for a paper ticket or PEKA card.
The upgraded PEKA system, based on a single Passenger Account, will use a broader list of ticket carriers and their identifiers (here: mobile application, PEKA card, ELS/ELD cards, EMV bank cards) and allow planning a multimodal trip using various means of public transport and making payments for the transport service.
The PEKA system, in its target functionality, will be ready for integration in the field of joint payment of fees for public transportation services provided on the area of Poznań agglomeration, including services of ZTM, Wielkopolska Railways, Polregio and PKS, as well as other parties who will sign relevant agreements and will be ready for integration.
The PEKA system, in its more modern version, will have a significant impact on the modernization of transportation through the use of new technologies, especially through the automation of solutions and further integration of services. This will result in better and more efficient provision of transportation services and make the offer more attractive to passengers.
